Amor Prohibido Cocktail {Inspired by Selena} Inspired by one of Selena’s most memorable songs the Amor Prohibido cocktail was our final cocktail served at my Raised on Selena event.  Fresh strawberry juice, tequila, topped with champagne, this cocktail also pays homage to Selena’s vibrant red lip color in her Amor Prohibido video.

Amor Prohibido Cocktail Inspired by Selena Quintanilla

Amor Prohibido became the first Tejano record to peak at number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart, cementing fans love of Selena.

A nod to somos de distintas sociedades I created this Amor Prohibido Cocktail {Inspired by Selena}. Tequila-Champagne cocktail in a vibrant red color to pay homage to how the song describes a relationship between a man and a woman in which their love is tested by poverty, differences, and parental disapproval. Many believe tequila should never be mixed with champagne, well folks I am here to tell you don’t know what you are missing.

cocktail inspired by Selena

The lyrics were inspired by Selena‘s grandparents who had dealt with the song’s meanings during their time. Selena told numerous TV crews about the song and its meanings to both her and her family. Amor Prohibido then became the leading single and first single from the album “Amor Prohibido” and instantly became Selena’s signature song due to its popularity.

Amor Prohibido Cocktail {Inspired by Selena}

    I never in my life thought to mix champagne & tequila. Making this inspired cocktail was easier than I expected. Using fresh strawberry juice definitely took it up a notch! It was a crowd favorite
