Red Wine Guava Spritzers

Hello, Summer, excited to see you, now pease stop raining. We have been hit with an enormous amount of rain lately here in South Texas. I thought by now I’d be sitting outside enjoying an icy cold cocktail, but instead, I’m cooking, washing dishes by candlelight since our electricity has been flickering in and out for the past few days.

When these thunderstorms settle down, I’ll be sipping up plenty of these red wine guava spritzers I made on my last visit to Harlingen. The girls and I drove down for an early Easter celebration with our extended familia Chantilly from Bicultural Familia.

Chantilly asked if I could bring along a few bottles of Texas red wine for us to enjoy since she had not yet had the pleasure of trying any wines made in Texas since moving here. I brought along a rosé and red wine to make spritzers.

These red wine spritzers are a great cocktail to serve up all summer plus they make a great party cocktail as they can be served big batch style, place sparkling water next to punch bowl or pitchers so guest can top off their spritzers individually.

I’ve included a fun little video Chantilly shot of me making these red wine spritzers and screaming in delight that there is a layer of cheese nachos underneath a parrillada she picked up a local restaurant. There is a great tip in the video about “slapping the mint, “ which got a few giggles. Enjoy –
