The Mangarita
Iโm obsessed with Downton Abbey, who isnโt?ย Itโs my guilty pleasure, an opportunity to pop up a great bottle of champagne and enjoy a few cocktails.ย When I heard that theKitchn ran a series of cocktails dedicated to Downton Abbey I immediately ran out and picked up a few bottles of champagne and a bottle of St-Germain, an elderflower liqueur.
Hands down my favorite cocktail from the series is the Lady Sybil which consists of gin, St-Germain and chilled brut champagne. ย If you enjoy Downton Abbey, these cocktails make the viewing experience much, much more pleasurable.ย
Cocktail Tip: A bottle of St-Germain is made without preservatives, so a bottle should be finished within six months.ย
While researching new cocktails to include my bottle of St-Germain I found a recipe for The Manzanita, which is described as the margaritaโs ebullient French cousin and is made with fresh pressed apple juice.ย I thought Iโd give the cocktail a twist with fresh mango juice.ย
- 2 ounces tequila blanco
- 1 ounce parts St-Germain elderflower liqueur
- 3 ounces mango juice
- Dash of cinnamon
- 3-4 fresh lime wedges
-
Muddle lime and cinnamon; add remaining ingredients and shaker with ice. Strain into an ice filled glass and garish with a cinnamon stick.

Ahhh these sound so good, will be giving them a try.
It’s so interesting that you mention St.Germain ( Elderflower Liqueur ) in today’s post. I happened to be in a local liquor store earlier this week and happened upon a
bottle of St. Germain ans saw that the price was a tad pricey and moved on then I came across another brand of Elderflower liqueur at much less cost although I didn’t purchase the cheaper bottle either it got me to wondering why one brand would be so much more expensive over the other, after reading your comments about St. Germain being made w/ out preservatives and now I understand thanks for the heads up.
