Just in time for Halloween, I’m sharing this spooky delicious cocktail in honor of the USS Lexington.  The Blue Ghost Punch is a delicious mix of vodka, Lime PERRIER® and blue Curacao.

Sweet Life Disclosure: I am excited to partner with PERRIER® to bring you this delicious and refreshing watermelon cocktail.  Thank you for supporting the brands I collaborate with.

The Tale of the Blue Ghost

Every Fall our family heads over to our neighboring city, Corpus Christi to see one of our favorite spooky attractions.  The Blue Ghost is a historic WWII Aircraft Carrier previously known as the USS Cabot and now, as the USS Lexington.

The Blue Ghost gets it’s name from it’s unusual blue color during WWII.  Most Naval ships during that time were painted in a dazzle camouflage that didn’t make it to the Blue Ghost.  The ship was commissioned for battle before it could be painted.

The ship is also rumored to have been sunk multiple times during WWII, but it kept showing up in battle, leaving enemies to speculate that the ship was returning from it’s watery grave.

Guest have also reported encounters with a tour guide named “Charlie,” but the USS LEXINGTON has never had a guide named Charlie.  Could it be a ghost?  We might never know.

Blue Ghost Punch Halloween Cocktail

Just in time for Halloween, I’m sharing this spooky delicious cocktail in honor of the USS Lexington.  The Blue Ghost Punch is a delicious mix of vodka, Lime PERRIER® and blue Curacao.

Curacao is an amazing sweet, orange liqueur that is made from the peel of the Laraha fruit, a bitter orange native to the Caribbean island of Curaçao.  It has a beautiful bitter, zesty flavor of intense citrus with lots of lemon and orange notes.  Curacao comes in several colors, but for this cocktail recipe, I’ll be using their signature blue Curacao.

I’ve paired this cocktail with Lime PERRIER®, which adds and wonderful, fizzy quality to the drink and pack even more delicious citrus flavor.  I like PERRIER® because I can easily keep a few cans stocked in my bar and it keeps much longer than an opened bottle, allowing me to bring that crisp, bright flavor to every cocktail.

I’m adding a fun play on Halloween to this cocktail by dropping freezing cubes of dry ice into every glass.  This will produce a gorgeous smokey effect at the top of each cocktail, creating a spooky ghost-like figure.

If you’re looking for a drink with aromatic orange and citrus notes, and a fun Halloween theme, this is the cocktail for you.
