Last Christmas is my favorite Christmas song, even though it has nothing, nothing to do with Christmas – ha!
There’s nothing holiday about Last Christmas – no presents, Santa or snow. The song is about a failed romance that just happens to have begun on December 25, when Michael gave someone his heart, and ended on December 26, when this ungrateful person “gave it away.” – cabrona.
George Michael wrote Last Christmas in an hour, an hour. In 1984 he was visiting his parents’ home. While watching TV he was inspired ran upstairs and wrote Last Christmas.
Last Christmas remained on remained #2 on the charts for over 35 years. The highest selling UK single to never reach #1 Last Christmas finally hit #1 on January 1, 2021 – George Michael died on December 25, 2016
George Michael donated all the profits from Last Christmas to Band Aid’s a charity benefiting Ethiopian famine relief. Michael sang on “Do They Know It’s Christmas,” and was so committed to the cause that he donated his profits from “Last Christmas” to helping the African nation.
“All my profits from ‘Last Christmas’ are going to Ethiopia too. Band Aid was great, but it was only one day out of everybody’s lives. I don’t think that’s enough. And you can’t not have a conscience about these things when you’re making a ridiculous amount of money. I tried to get the record company, CBS, to give their share too but they didn’t want to ‘set a precedent’. But I hope some other people in the Christmas Top Ten will do the same.” George Michael

Dollop a spoon of cranberry jam in bottom of glass
To a cocktail shaker filled with ice combine vodka, Cointreau, white cranberry juice and lime juice.
Shake well
Gently pour over cranberry jam
Garnish with sugared cranberries
- 2 ounces vodka
- 1 ounce Cointreau
- 1 ounce white cranberry juice
- 1/2 ounce fresh lime
- Cranberry jam
- Sugared cranberries
