A manzanilla canela latte is quickly becoming my nightly ritual to help this Seรฑora soothe herself to sleep. Made with dried manzanilla, canela, honey and frothed milk this cozy latte is delicious.
Our coldest months in Tejas occur in January and February. I find myself craving something extra warm to sip on while I settled in to watch TV. This manzanilla canela latte is mix of everything my Abuelita made for me growing up – warm manzanilla scented with canela and sweetened with honey. The addition of frothed milk makes this latte a welcome sip after a long day.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE MANZANILLA CANELA LATTE
water
dried Manzanilla or 2 Manzanilla tea bags โ for this recipe I used dried manzanilla, but you can use manzanilla (chamomile) tea bags. Find dried manzanilla online or at your Mexican grocery store.
whole milk, coconut milk, or milk of your choice
canela, cinnamon stick
honey or sweetener of choice
Additional dried manzanilla for serving
HOW TO MAKE MANZANILLA CANELA LATTE
You can make this latte two ways, on the stove-top in a saucepan or with a kettle.
I have made it both ways with the same results โ if using tea bags, simply remove the bags. The dried version will need to be strained, an easy, peasy step.
STOVE-TOP VERSION:
Bring the water to a simmer in a small saucepan.
Remove from the heat and add the dried tea or tea bags, canela stick and honey.
Cover and steep for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, froth milk of choice.
Strain tea into cups, top with frothed milk.
Stir gently, taste for sweetness, add additional honey if desired.
Serve warm garnished with additional dried manzanilla, optional.
TEA KETTLE VERSION:
Heat water via tea kettle.
To a heat proof glass or canning jar add manzanilla, canela, and honey.
Add water, cover and steep for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, froth milk of choice.
Strain into cups, top with frothed milk.
Stir gently, taste for sweetness, add additional honey if desired.
Serve warm garnished with additional dried manzanilla, optional

- 1 1/2 cups water
- 4 tablespoons dried Manzanilla or 2 Manzanilla tea bags
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk, coconut milk, or milk of your choice
- 1 canela, (cinnamon stick)
- 2 tablespoons honey
- Additional dried manzanilla for serving
