Papaya Pineapple Salsa recipe

All hail the mighty papaya! I grew up eating papaya, and absolutely adore it. I love featuring papaya recipes here in my little corner of the world.

Pero man every time I share a new recipe yโ€™all message me your disgust for papaya.

I get it, I get it

Itโ€™s a texture thing.

Itโ€™s a smell thing.

Guys, give her a try. She is juicy, she is flavorful, and she pairs perfectly with chile and her health benefits are amazing.

My papaya pineapple salsa is sweet, spicy, and brimming with summer flavor. I added a bit of pineapple to the mix, so my papaya haters would, maybe give it a try.

Letโ€™s get chopping.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE PAPAYA PINEAPPLE SALSA

Papaya: You can find papayas at the grocery store most of the year, but summer is their season, and thatโ€™s when theyโ€™ll be cheapest and best. Look for firm papaya that yields with pressure. If itโ€™s too soft, pass on it, youโ€™ll be dicing the flesh, and you donโ€™t want it to be mushy.

Pineapple

red onion

serrano chile

cilantro: wash and finely chop.

lime

salt

pepper

HOW TO MAKE THIS SALSA

Begin by dicing your papaya and pineapple. For this recipe you will use 1-half of the papaya and 1-half of the pineapple. Feel free to double the salsa if serving a large crowd.

Or use the remining halves in the following recipes:

Papaya Chia Agua Fresca

Papaya Carrot Agua Fresca

Pineapple Duros

Pineapple Agua Preparada

Finely dice your red onion. You can substitute with white or yellow onion for this recipe.

Finely mince your serrano. You can substitute with a jalapeno. Remove the rib from the chile for less spice.

Wash and chop your cilantro.

You will need juice from 1 lime for this recipe.

In a bowl combine papaya, pineapple, red onion, serrano, cilantro, lime juice, salt and pepper.

Mix to combine. Taste, adjust seasoning.  Add more salt if needed.

Chill until ready to serve.

Plan to serve this salsa the day you make it.

Papaya and pineapple are softer fruits and will begin to break down with the addition of lime juice.
