Refreshing margaritas made with Texas Yellow Watermelon hit the spot after a long week.
Yellow Watermelon Margaritas Yโall!!
I cannot handle the beauty. I simply, simply adore watermelon. I look forward to watermelon season every year, but guys the yellow watermelons โ they are the BEST!
Lighter, brighter and softer in texture compared to the red watermelons Texas yellow watermelons have an almost citrusy flavor that I love.
Texas yellow Watermelons can round or more of an ob-longed shape with or without seeds. I prefer the smaller rounder yellow watermelons without seeds. Look for a firm watermelon, free of bruises with a few patches of dullness in the exterior color.
My papi smells them he swears you can smell if the watermelon is ready to slice. This personally has never worked for me. I buy my Texas yellow watermelon when in season.
To make this watermelon I used my juicer. A juicer yields the freshest juice with less foam than the blender, but feel free to use the blender โ simply strain after blending.
- makes 4 margaritas
- salt
- lime wedges
- 4 cups fresh yellow watermelon juice
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 cup tequila
- 1/3 cup fresh lime juice
- 1/2 cup Cointreau
-
On a small plate spread salt. With lime wedges moisten rim of 4 glasses. Dip glasses into salt.
-
In a pitcher combine watermelon juice, sugar, salt, tequila, lime juice and Cointreau. Stir until sugar dissolves. Place in fridge to chill. Serve margaritas garnished with fresh watermelon slices.
