Watermelon Ice Cream Floats

Ice cream floats were one of my favorite summer desserts as a kid – and still are! Creamy ice cream combined with soda and a generous handful of sprinkles were the ultimate treat.  Today I want to share with you a creamy, dreamy watermelon float made with homemade watermelon soda.

Making you homemade soda is simple and requires only a few ingredients, plus it’s so much tasty than store bought sodas. The addition of homemade watermelon soda plus melon balls give this watermelon ice cream float a splash of freshness that pairs perfectly with Breyers French vanilla ice cream.

To begin creating this watermelon ice cream float at home we need to make the homemade soda first, which can be made in advanced and chilled until ready to serve. All you need is blender and you’re on your way to creating homemade soda.  Use this recipe to create other homemade sodas such as honeydew, cantaloupe or even cherry the possibilities are endless.

I was so inspired after watching the TuTwist web series on ViveMejor.com and decided to whip up an icy treat of my own. The Tu Twist webseries on ViveMejor.com is all about filling our bellies with food and laughter. It feeds Latina’s fun loving nature and kitchen creativity with brands we know and love like Knorr, Hellman’s, Lipton, Fruttare, and Breyer’s. The star of this wonderfully energetic webseries, Giselle Blondet, is the author of I’m 50, So What? and the writer of the series, Arturo Castro is also the star of Comedy Central’s Alternatino. Which basically means that this webseries is absolutely guaranteed to be hilarious.
