If you grew up eating Mexican candy, you will definitely want to try this easy recipe for chamoy peach rings. They are so easy to make, you can whip them up in no time.

Chamoy candy, often called dulces enchilados, can be found everywhere in Mexico – street vendors, grocery stores and have made their way here to South Texas. Find them served over raspas, ice cream, and aguas. I like to toss them in my popcorn, so good!

You can find them sold at your local Mexican grocery store, but they are sooo easy to make at home, and you can customize to your tastebuds. Better than store-bought!

INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE CHAMOY PEACH RINGS AT HOME

peach rings – you can find peach rings in the candy section of your store or in bulk goods, and even order online. You also use any gummy candy you enjoy for this recipe.
chamoy – is a Mexican sauce made from salted, preserved fruit. You can drizzle it over fresh fruit, veggies, ice cream, or use it to rim cocktail glasses. Chamoy is salty, spicy, sweet, sour and addicting, trust me and purchase a large bottle. Thank me later. Find chamoy at Mexican grocery stores, Mexican candy store, our local grocery store H-E-B carries in Texas or order online.
Tajín – is a blend of dried ground chiles- arbol, guajillo and pasilla combined with dehydrated ground lime and salt. There are many varieties of Tajín including a low-sodium version, a spicy habanero version and a sweet and spicy blend that includes sugar. Sprinkle Tajín on fresh fruit, veggies, popcorn, use to rim cocktails, on a raspa or any dish you want a touch of spice.

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE CHAMOY PEACH RINGS

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • To a mixing bowl add peach rings. Chamoy does stain plastic, so I suggest using a glass bowl.
  • Pour in the chamoy and with a spoon stir until every ring is coated in chamoy.
  • Next add Tajin and mix again to coat evenly. Spread rings on parchment paper, bot overlapping and sprinkle more Tajin over them.
  • Allow them to dry for at least two hours or overnight to allow chamoy to soak in.
  • Store your chamoy peach rings candies in a sealed container or Ziploc bag at room temperature.
  • Store for up to week in a cool cry place. At my house they never last the week!
