Avena de Calabaza
(receta en ingles y español)
Nothing says I love you more than a warm bowl of avena. My mami always flavored ours with cinnamon and lots and lots of good for your body milk. I make it for my gals at least twice a week, they love it too! This week I decided to mix it up a bit and add the flavors of Fall ~ Calabaza (pumpkin).
Pre-Halloween fuel this avena (oatmeal) taste of sweet pumpkin pie without all the fuss in mixing, baking and cranking on the oven. Crunchy oats simmered in silky milk and pumpkin puree transforms this stand by breakfast treat into a special Halloween treat. When Quaker and Kroger asked me to create a recipe to celebrate the kick-off of the new program Better Together (read more about this great project below~) I just knew I had to feature a special avena for the occasion. This morning as I made this avena ~ it only made them even more excited to step out tomorrow night, fully dressed in their spooky costumes and raid the neighborhood for sweets!
This avena is sure to get any kiddo excited for a night of fun. I devour it for pure strength, face it parents we are going to need it!
