Skip the greasy mess and bake these puff pastry churros rather than frying them in oil. The easiest twist on the classic Mexican churro puff pastry baked churros are lightly brushed with vanilla butter and dusted in cinnamon-sugar.
My baked churros are so easy to make and require no frying! Flaky, tender baked churros taste just as good as a fried churro but are healthier and easier to make and you don’t have to worry about frying in hot oil!
I have no want to fry anything during the Texas summer months. Bring on the baked goods.
This is not a traditional churro recipe, but my easy baked churros made with puff pastry bake up just as good and are way easier than the traditional churro recipe.
Once baked, they are brushed with vanilla butter then dusted with cinnamon sugar. You will never know these churros aren’t fried and they’re so much easier to make!

HOW TO MAKE THE EASIEST BAKED CHURROS MADE WITH PUFF PASTRY
Begin by thawing the puff pastry according to directions listed on package.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Liberally spray your parchment paper to prevent the puff pastry from sticking.
Brushing the puff pastry with melted butter and vanilla give these bake churros the authentic taste you would get from a traditional churro recipe.
Gently simmer your butter and vanilla on low heat. Do not allow butter to boil.
Dusting your cutting board with flour helps prevent the puff pastry from sticking.
Gently roll puff pastry with a rolling pin to properly seal the creases.
Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice puff pastry into 1-inch strips.
Place on baking sheet and bake until golden brown. About 10-15 minutes.
Remove from oven, brush with melted vanilla butter and dust with cinnamon sugar.
You can store leftovers in an air-tight container but they will become soft. Reheat them under the broiler for a few minutes and they will regain their former crispiness.
