Hibiscus Jam Cocktail

Last year, I read an article on “Why you should be adding jam to your cocktails,” and it instantly made me want to make homemade jam.

I mean, what kind of #cocktailgal am I if I don’t make my own jam to add to my cocktails?

Turns out, I’m not very good at making jam. I spent two entire days tweaking, testing and playing around with a homemade hibiscus jam recipe that never quite turned out the way I hoped it would. I also didn’t want to upload a recipe that I wasn’t sure of or proud of and have it give you guy’s problems.

I did manage to salvage a few teaspoons of jam which I thought would taste great on my toast the next mornin.

But then I thought of that darn article and I plopped those teaspoons into a cocktail shaker along with rum, lemon juice and simple syrup and guess what guys?!?

It was amazing!

Super Simple Hibiscus Jam Cocktail Recipe

This cocktail totally rocks and it almost had me running into the kitchen to attempt that jam recipe again.

That is, until my little sister walked through the door and said “Hey I heard you couldn’t get that jam recipe to work, so I picked you up a jar of hibiscus jam at the store.”

Maybe I’ll give that jam recipe another go in a few months…until then I’ll stick to the jar my sis gave me.  ¡Salud!
