I’m a blusher. If you ever meet me, prepare yourself there will be blushing. I sometimes, no always, wear extra blush so when I blush you can’t see it. Does it make sense? No sense, that’s why it works. Did I ever blush when I clicked on Drick’s blog, an entire post dedicated to me. Blushing. A recipe named after me. Blushing.
Mango Agave Granola
Do you ever have one of those weeks, I don’t know how to explain it, just a weird week. The week was a blur of lost items, confusion in dates and emotional roller coaster. The family felt my unbalance. They quickly swooped in, to make fun of me, yes they took any opportunity to crack a joke. I have to admit it really helped, laughing at yourself somehow cleanses your attitude. Thankfully today is Friday, I am so over this week. Shall we cleanse together over a bowl of granola and share a laugh? Funny thing is, I can really woof down granola. I have admired this… Read More
A few of my favorite things
I am at this very moment scrubbing toilets, up to my eyeballs in laundry and if I survive I might steam my floors. I leave you with a few of my favorite things, all sweets – a girl needs motivation. Enjoy!
Pinto Bean Chowder
Growing up the norm in our house was a pot of beans. Well, not much has changed as I each week make a pot of beans for my family. As I gaze through any new cookbook my fingers quickly skim the pages for any sign of a new bean recipe. When I came upon this Pinto Bean Chowder I was intrigued, one associates chowder with seafood, corn or potatoes, but beans..the was… Read More

Pozole Verde
As I mentioned in my earlier post, holidays in our home meant Pozole and bunuelos. Sadly I feel I might not get around to making bunuelos this year, but I do want to share a pozole recipe. I cannot even begin to count how many times over the years my mom has made pozole. She typically makes pozole rojo (red) flavored with ancho chiles, I really owe my love for ancho (dried poblanos) to her. Pozole does take time (hence the margaritas), but the rewards are truly worth it in the end. A big , yes big steamy pot of pozole is sure to warm your home this… Read More
Guava Margarita
New year’s in my childhood home meant two things. Pozole Bunuelos So how does a guava margarita fit into the mix? Nowhere, really I had leftover guavas from making my Ponche Navideno and I find sipping a cocktail as I stand over my pot skimming foam for my pozole broth makes for a more enjoyable time. Margarita motivation.
