Santa’s almost here and I of course am behind. Daily I have been reminded of the cookies that need to be made for Santa’s arrival. Add to the list the tamales I have yet to begin, the brisket I must prep, a pot of beans and well it leaves for a busy day.

My small apartment wafted with the smell of Christmas, a Mexican Christmas, I was thrilled. We were also snipping away making paper snowflakes, kinda ironic. Sipping on Ponche Navideno, in Texas. Making snowflakes, in Texas.
Pecan Sandies are my favorite cookies, well I am not known to ever turn down any cookie, but these do hold special meaning. In high school I cannot even recall how my ritual came to be, but before very tennis match I happily munched on a package of pecan sandies while washing them down with a Hawaiian punch. I awake excited every morning this time of year. I find myself daydreaming of sugar, butter and chocolate…. is it healthy no, but c’mon give a lady a break… I realize this train of thought is not derriere friendly, but people ..my buttocks and I desire to make that sacrifice for the good of others… it’s all about holiday spirit!
Happy Tuesday! Sorry for not posting, but with comp problems and the Thanksgiving holiday I figured we all could use the break. Our holiday evolved into a very laid back weekend. My hubby’s parents came in from Driscoll, Texas and the girls’ couldn’t have been more excited. My in-laws do not travel much, so for them to drive 2 and 1/2 hours is a big deal. I had hoped for a longer visit, but they returned home after our Thanksgiving meal. With no plans, the girls’ decided we should enjoy a weekend of movies. We are a busy family. Really is there a family who isn’t busy? We have kids, home, jobs, school, activities, errands, bills…etc…etc. Life is hectic. Dinner shouldn’t be. Dinner is a time to unwind from the day, relax with a inviting plate surrounded by family. Weekday dinners have evolved into a joint effort in our home. Everyone slowly makes their way into the kitchen to take on his/her small part. The table is cleared, plates assesmbled and glasses filled. Happy Monday my food lovers. How was your weekend? I have been plesantly absent from blogging these days , entirely due to the blessing of perfect Texas weather. A week of humid free days, cooler temperatures and shades of fall surfacing in every corner. What’s a mom to do, but take time to enjoy these days in our local parks.
