El Chico del Apartamento 512 Margarita – {Inspired by Selena}

Inspired by one of Selena’s most memorable songs El Chico del Apartamento 512, a fresh cantaloupe margarita was served at my Raised on Selena which celebrates the late Tejano’s life, legacy and impact on Latinos. The 512 is a loving nod from Selena to Corpus Christi, Texas’s former area code. Guys! Here is cocktail numero dos from Raised on Selena – El Chico del Apartamento 512 inspired by one of Selena’s most recognizable songs. Finally having the courage to profess her love the protagonist knocks on her love interest door (who lives in APT 512) only to find his girlfriend… Read More

Guys! Last night we celebrating Raised on Selena …. and it was simply magical. I’ll be sharing a complete write up of the evening soon, but today I wanted to share one of the Selena inspired cocktails of the evening – The Como la Flor Margarita. This creamy dreamy margarita is brimming with coconut, tequila and a hint of pineapple juice which compliments the coconut salt rim. It is a show stopper. My guests were served this icy cold margarita with Pizza inspired by Selena. You can find my Tex-Mex pizza here.   A Selena inspired margarita the Como la… Read More

Breakfast Huaraches

I’m serving hearty breakfast huaraches for a festive Easter brunch. Topped with refried beans, scrambled eggs, queso fresco and salsa huaraches are the ultimate brunch treat. Disclosure: Post sponsored by Mirum but all opinions are my own.   Huaraches are flattened ovals of masa shaped to resemble the sole of a Huarache (Mexican sandal). Like sopes, huaraches can be made/served small as an appetizer of made large enough to resemble a pizza. Cooked on a comal they can be topped with anything your heart desires. Shredded chicken, picadillo, beans, cheese or sautéed mushroom and salsa. I’m excited to partner with Knorr®… Read More

Carne Asada Nachos

  Juicy grilled beef carne asada topped with plenty of cheese, fresh pico de gallo, sour cream and avocado make for the yummiest of weekend plans. I’m excited to partner with Rumba meats to share this weekend family favorite recipe for carne asada nachos. My little familia lives for the weekends. Since moving, one starting college, mi carino working extra hours, art classes and my hectic travel schedule our days are full of busy, quick goodbye hugs and plenty of early mornings kisses on the cheeks before mami heads out on the road. When Friday arrives the texts started rolling… Read More

Citrus Marinated Carne Asada Tacos

Citrus Marinated Carne Asada Tacos juicy grilled beef carne asada marinated in plenty of South Texas citrus is a quick & easy weeknight dinner. All the flavors of your favorite taqueria style tacos at home, winning.    “Dos de carne asada tacos con cebolla y cilantro,” is mi carino’s order whenever we go out for tacos. He loves carne asada, diced finely served in a warm flour tortilla topped with plenty of diced onion and cilantro. For his birthday he requested we cook at home instead of going out for dinner like we usually do. I wanted to make him… Read More

No Bake Peanut Butter Cheesecake Cups

  Today we’re adding a fun twist on the classic cheesecake by incorporating the flavors of peanut butter cups and serving them in martini glasses for the sweetest surprise. I never need an excuse to spoil mi cariño. I hit the jackpot when I married this man and I plan to spend the rest of my life making sure he knows I adore him. One of his favorite treats are peanut butter cups. Growing up his mom would slide in a pack of peanut butter cups into his lunch once a month. He was always surprised to find them, but… Read More

How to make Lavendar Sugar

  I try to make at least one edible gift each year for family and friends. My mami is a rockstar when it comes to gifting homemade edible gifts to her family and friends. Every year she gifts cookies, tamales and blackberry jam to her family and friends. Mine are a little different from my mami’s and usually involved infused tequila or infused vodka. Last year my little gal made homemade sugar scrubs and homemade lip gloss, while I made empanadas. Flavored sugars are easy to make at home and can be used in a multitude of ways. I like to sprinkle my flavored… Read More
