Patriotic Moscato Gelatin Shots

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Gallo Family Vineyards and Latina Bloggers Connect. Patriotic Moscato Gelatin Shots Every year my mom makes a fantastic gelatin mold for the kids table.  Brightly colored layers of gelatin mixed with fresh fruit and topped with fluffy clouds of freshly whipped cream.  The kids can’t get enough of it while the adults hopelessly circle the table hoping to grab the last piece, bite or even a spoonful. Of course, there is never any left and the adults are left to nibble on pie.  Not that there is anything wrong with pie, we… Read More

Savory Peach-Melon Cocktail I’m excited to announce I’m partnering with Old El Paso this year to create easy, fresh and quick dinners your whole family is sure to love.  They invited me to spend a few days in Austin, Texas – of course I said heck ya!  We began our trip learning all about Old El Paso and their dedication in providing families quality products to make life easier when it comes to weekly dinners for your family.  Then we were whisked away for a decadent dinner at La Condesa. The Freshest Bloggers —  Sommer (A Spicy Perspective), Ali (Gimme Some… Read More

Peach Limeade

Peach Limeade I went peach picking y’all!  I have been craving sweet, juicy peaches from Fredericksburg, Texas for what seems like forever.  I planned a day trip three times this month and something always came up to disrupt our plans.  Made me crave those dang peaches even more. We were finally able to get on the road this past weekend, Saturday the official first day of Summer and set off on our first road trip of the Summer –woo-hoo! Peaches here we come. We arrived, checked in at Jenschke’s Orchard, wrangled up our crew – kids and pups and headed… Read More

Easy Picarones

Easy Picarones Have you tried picarones?  A popular street food sold in Peru is crisp from the outside and soft, doughy, airy from the inside.  They are sold in plazas, street corners and cultural festivals where I was first introduced to them. I had my first Picarones at a cultural festival in my early 20’s.  It was love at first bite. The airy texture paired with a sweet thick sauce made my heart beat in happiness.  The yeast dough consists of either squash or sweet potato and the syrup is made with chancaca (molasses).  Pieces of dough are pinched off and… Read More

Summer Salad with Avocado Kiwi Dressing #SummerSalad Prize Pack Giveaway

Sweet Life Disclosure: This is a sponsored post on behalf of Avocados from Mexico. I received compensation for this post, however all opinions stated are my own.  A Summer of Salads Celebration with Avocados From Mexico When the Texas temperatures begin to climb, climb, climb the last thing I want to do is spend a lot of time in the kitchen.  But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to enjoy meals that are satisfying and delicious.  I begin to crave light, refreshing meals where I can showcase summer’s best.   I make Salads! A salad is so much more than a… Read More

Biscochitos

Biscochitos Biscochitos, also known as bischos are golden buttery cookies enjoyed at weddings, baptisms and throughout the Christmas season.  The original recipe was brought to Mexico by the Spanish in the 16th century and were called mantecados.  The traditional shape served during weddings is a diamond shape to signify purity. Declared New Mexico’s official state cookie in 1989 these melt in your mouth cookies are made with anise and brandy. I personally enjoy them warm with my afternoon cup of coffee, but my girls love to dip them in chilled milk. Head over to the Imperial website for the recipe,… Read More

Coconut Horchata Muffins

Coconut Horchata Muffins   Remember that dreamy, creamy horchata de coco I shared last week? It was a major hit at home with numerous requests to make it again and again. I made a double, triple batch over the weekend, so I would purposely have a few cups leftover to make these horchata muffins. These coconut horachta muffins are moist, tender and packed with horchata goodness.  They bake up beautifully with round, domed tops in a pale light golden color. They are perfectly fine served warm, plain without frosting, but hey you only live once – let’s slather a… Read More

Slushy Watermelon Mojitos

Slushy Watermelon Mojitos Holy sweet summer watermelons, love’m –can’t get enough of their juicy goodness.  In the last few days we, ahem ..I have consumed three watermelons, alone.  For breakfast, juiced or in my salad for dinner they almost seem to get juicer and juicer the more I eat them. I decided to freeze a few cups of diced watermelon to add to my water or lemonade for the week.  I freeze the diced watermelon on a baking sheet until firm then add to a freezer safe plastic bag and off to my freezer in the garage, where I am… Read More
