How to Make a Cucumber Tequila and Tonic Cocktail
In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass muddle tequila, cucumber slices and lime juice with a muddler or end of wooden spoon.
Muddling helps to draw out the flavors while breaking them down which helps the ingredients easily mix with the alcohol.
Once muddling is done add ice and shake or stir vigorously to chill mixture.
To finish the cocktail strain mixture into a glass filled with ice and top with chilled tonic.
I like to chill my tonic water before adding to my cocktail. We want our cucumber tequila and tonic icy cold.
What is Tonic Water?
Tonic water is a carbonated beverage that is often used to mixed drinks. Tonic water contains small amounts of quinine, which when dissolved in tonic water contributes to its semi-bitter taste.
Natural quinine is derived from the tree bark of Cinchona species, native to Central America, and naturalized or cultivated in Indonesia, the Caribbean, and Africa.
Many tonics have citrus, herbal, and spice notes.
