I love Holiday baking. I love holiday baking with my children. Spending the day in the kitchen baking with my children is one of the best perks of being a mommy and a wonderful way to involve them in the kitchen. When teaching my children to cook I always begin with baking, it’s safer since no knives will be involved or use of the range this helps to build confidence and having a sweet treat to enjoy afterwards never hurts either.

This holiday season why not invite your children into the kitchen to help you make these dark chocolate cherry cookies. Kids of all ages can lend a helping hand, the youngest arte always eager to help. Start by giving them smaller tasks. My youngest loves to help by gathering our ingredients, measuring the dry goods and adding the ingredients to the mixer. Older children can slowly begin to take on more responsibility by helping the younger children to read the recipe or be in charge of oven duty. My eldest takes the lead in dropping the batter onto the baking sheet and placing the cookies in the oven.

These scrumptious cookies are made with the new Nestlé® Toll House® DelightFulls™ Filled Baking Morsels of dark chocolate cherry. With two of my favorite flavors in one – dark chocolate and cherry I knew it would take these cookies to another level of amazingness. They are so rich and creamy I had to stop myself from eating them straight from the bag or there wouldn’t be any left for the batter.

Dark Chocolate Cherry Cookies

Makes 24 cookies

1 ½ cups flour

6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

¼ teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

¾ cup sugar

1/4 cup butter, at room temperature

2 tablespoons canola oil

2 large eggs

¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup Toll House Delightfulls Dark Cherry morsels with cherry filling

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, cocoa, salt and cinnamon in a bowl; set aside. In a mixer bowl beat sugar, butter and oil until light and creamy, about 4 minutes. Adds eggs one at time, mixing well after each addition. Mix in vanilla and continue to mix. Reduce mixer to low and carefully add flour mixture, beat until just combined. Stir in dark cherry morsels, cover with plastic wrap and chill for 10 minutes. Drop by tablespoons on baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.

The same NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® chocolate you know and love now filled with rich caramel, peanut butter, mint, and cherry flavored filling. Add these new filled baking morsels to your favorite recipes for a special twist on the classic, or try experimenting with them in a recipe you’ve never tried before!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE®. The opinions and text are all mine.
