Homemade Cranberry Cocktail Syrup

Homemade cranberry syrup made of fresh cranberries, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice is the merriest of gifts for cocktail lovers.

Today Iโ€™m excited to share a recipe for homemade cocktail syrup.

Poured into canning jars they make the prettiest of gifts.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE HOMEMADE COCKTAIL SYRUP

water

sugar

fresh cranberries

cinnamon sticks

fresh lemon juice

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE COCKTAIL SYRUP

Combine water and sugar in large saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.

Add cranberries, cinnamon stick; bring to boil.  Reduce heat and with the back of spoon mash cranberries. Remove from heat, allow to cool. Once cooled, strain mixture, using back of spoon to extract as much liquid as possible. Stir in lemon juice, pour into glass bottle of choice.

Chill until cold, can be made up to one week in advance. Will keep in the fridge for up to one month.

Use to make cranberry cocktails.

CRANBERRY MARGARITA

Makes 2

1/2 cup homemade cranberry syrup

ยผ cup tequila

1 tablespoon Cointreau

Ice

Lime wedges

Salt for rim

Run a lime wedge around the rim of a glass, dip into salt and fill with ice. To a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add tequila, lime juice, Cointreau and cranberry syrup.

Shake well and pour over glass filled with ice.

CRANBERRY MARTINI

Makes 2

8 ounces vodka

1 ounce cranberry syrup

1 teaspoon vermouth

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake vodka, cranberry syrup, and vermouth until chilled, about 20 seconds. Strain into chilled glasses, and garnish with fresh cranberries.

Champagne or Prosecco

Pour syrup on bottle of champagne glass, top with chilled bubbles.
