Itโ€™s watermelon season in Texas baby! Bring on the watermelon palomas served in a DIY watermelon punch bowl! Texas watermelon season always makes me giddy. Agua de Sandia, watermelon salad or watermelon cocktails โ€“ todas las sandias por favor.

Today I am walking you through how easy it is to serve up watermelon palomas in a DIY watermelon punch bowl, filled with the most refreshing watermelon palomas โ€“ made from fresh watermelon juice.

Nothing beats fresh watermelon juice โ€“ not only is delicious, but itโ€™s also helps you stay hydrated. And we Texans know when summer hits, hydration is key.

Hydrating while sipping tequila โ€“ baby, we are winning!

The beauty of this cocktail is that you can easily adjust the servings. If you are serving two, use a personal size watermelon โ€“ serving a crowd? Pick up a large watermelon and use one half or both halves of the watermelon to create a multi-paloma station.

Fresh watermelon juice, tequila Blanco, fresh lemon juice and grapefruit soda is all you need.

Adjust to meet your entertaining summer needs.

HOW TO MAKE A DIY WATERMELON PUNCH BOWL

Before cutting gently wash the outer surface of the watermelon thoroughly with cool water to remove surface dirt.

Lightly dampen a dish towel, place on counter and place cutting board over damp dish towel โ€“ this will help keep the cutting board sturdy.

Place watermelon on cutting board and with a sharp paring knife gently slice the zigzag pattern before cutting โ€“ this ensures even slicing.

Carefully begin cutting the zigzag pattern with knife, carefully turning watermelon until is separates,

Store remining watermelon half in fridge tightly covered with plastic wrap.

Using a spoon remove watermelon flesh and place in blender.

I placed my watermelon punch bowl in a barro serving dish to prevent spills and it added a beautiful touch to my set-up.

For this recipe I only used half of the watermelon โ€“ store remaining half in fridge to enjoy or why not make another watermelon recipe โ€“ hereโ€™s a few ideas

HOW TO MAKE WATERMELON PALOMAS SERVED IN A DIY WATERMELON PUNCH BOWL

We are using the flesh from the watermelon to make our palomas. Use a blender or juicer to make watermelon juice. If using a juicer, simply pass through the juicer.

If using a blender, you can add a little water to get the blender going or press down with a wooden spoon to release some of the watermelon natural juices.

We are returning the watermelon juice to the hollowed-out watermelon โ€“ strain before retuning to discard any remining solids from blending.

For this recipe I used a personal seedless watermelon. You can blend watermelon with seeds, straining helps to remove any leftover seeds.

Pour watermelon juice into hollowed-out watermelon โ€“ make sure you have enough room for remining liquids, as some watermelon produce more juice than others. If you are unsure being by pouring in half the juice, then add remining liquid, taste and add more watermelon juice to taste.

Add tequila, lemon juice, a little of the salt-tajin mix (optional) and top with grapefruit soda.

Serve over prepared glass, garnish with watermelon.

Salud!
