Paletas de Papaya

Papaya Pops-Paletas de Papaya

Paletas de Papaya

Summer Time means one thing Paletas!!

I love them, my kids adore them and sometimes it’s the only way to get hubby to eat papaya, he doesn’t appreciate it the way this chica does.

What’s up with that?
Growing up one of my favorite ways to eat papaya was diced with bananas, a splash of lime and a drizzle of honey. Mami would dice up a few papayas, bananas and combine everything in her favorite Tupperware container.

The juices from the papaya would slowly mingle with the lime and honey to create the best glaze for the bananas.

Hmmm… I need to try to recreate that salad into a paleta. Back to hubby, mi carino.
It’s a texture thing for him with papaya. He loves it in aguas, nieves or in thinly julienned in salad, but not plain.
So I make him paletas.

One day he’ll come around.

Paleta de Papaya - Papaya Pop

Paletas de Papaya

  • 4 cups papaya, diced and seeds removed
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp salt

  1. Place papaya and salt in blender with just a splash of the 1/2 cup water to get started.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Pour into a paleta mold, insert wooden sticks and freeze for about 4-6 hours.
  4. Run your mold under warm water to loosen the paleta.

Try soaking your wooden stick in warm water 20 minutes before using. This helps the stick to stay in place.
