Enjoyed throughout the holiday season with pan dulce and tamales atole is a much-loved breakfast in Mexico. Atole can be made sweet or savory. Popular flavors include blackberry, fresa, pecan, pears, pineapple and my favorite tamarind.
My atole de tamarindo is thick, creamy and sweetened with Imperial sugar. I made a triple batch recently and it was consumed in no time served with warm slices of toasty bolillos and butter. Head over to the Imperial website where I share the recipe in both English and Spanish.
