ย Roasted Grape Margarita

12 grapes or Las doce uvas is the tradition of eating 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight.ย  With each grape eaten you make a wish for the New Year. ย

This is one of my favorite family traditions.ย  A tradition bursting with hope for the New Year with a few finalย laughs in the old year as we stuff our faces with juicy grapes.ย  This year is no different my fridge is stocked with grapes ready for the countdown.ย  There is one tiny detail that will change this year, no champagne.ย  This gal is serving margaritas, chocked full of roasted grape flavor.ย  I adore roasted fruit over a scoop of vanilla ice cream, so it was only natural that my roasted fruit would make its way into my margaritas one day.

Roasting helps to boost theย grapeย flavor.ย  Tossing with olive oil, salt, pepper and orange zest give them warmth and a savory hint.ย  I wasn’t sure I would enjoy this mix,ย but I really did ( I had three!).ย  This opens endless options forย me like roasted peach margarita or plums, pears… etc.ย  I did have a few grapes left overย and these went into my pico de gallo, while my daughter added them to her salad.ย  Enjoy!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! May your new year be filled with blessings, love and tasty treats!

Though I’ve never had them, I imagine roasted grapes to be kind of like roasted tomatoes…bursts of intense delicious flavor. Obviously made even better in margarita form! Happy new year, chica!

What a great idea! We do the 12 grapes too, but not quite as elegantly as this. It looks like we’ll be adopting a new tradition.

Roasted grapes? Seriously? That’s so cool. I would have never thought of that. Sometimes I eat 12 grapes for New Year’s. I learned it from a friend who lives in Spain and follows that tradition. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have roasted grapes exactly once for a veal chop dish and thought they were wonderful. Never thought about ice cream or even a marguerita. Fabulous idea. The photo of that drink looks gorgeous and inviting.
