Tropical Sangria

I’m celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a quick and easy Sangria with the flavors that remind me of my abuelita.

You know what makes me so HAPPY?

Sharing a big pitcher of delicious sangria, chips and salsa and mis amigas!

I’m always down to have a few of my amigas over for a relaxed evening to sip on sangria and catch up.

Sangria is one of the easiest, fuss-free cocktails to whip up when you decide to host that impromptu girls night in.

This sangria recipe is a crowd pleaser, and you won’t believe how easy it comes together.

I start this Sangria with a bag of Private Selection™ Mandarine Orange Pineapple & Papaya Blend frozen fruit I picked up at my local Kroger. I’ve always had a special place in my heart for papaya; it was one of my abuelita’s favorite fruit.

She had a papaya tree in her backyard, so she always had plenty of papaya on-hand to make smoothies, add to her salads or freeze to make ice cream.

Being Hispanic Heritage month, I find myself craving the flavors mi Abuelita loved.

During Hispanic Heritage, we Latinos, celebrate our culture and traditions and use this time to come together, honor and recognize our cultural heritage.

Today I want to share a refreshing Sangria that I know my abuelita would love.

To give the Sangria a warm note, I cooked the frozen fruit with Private Selection™ Cinnamon Sticks and Private Selection™ Turbinado Cane Sugar. From the freezer to a saucepan, a splash of water, cinnamon sticks, and some turbinado sugar stir and cook on low until warm.

Once cooled add to a pitcher, top with wine and you’re set to entertain.

Today I’m using Tradicional Madira Sangria, inspired by the vibrant spirit of Madrid. Ruby red, infused with orange, lemon, and lime, Madria Sangria Tradicional adds a lively citrus zing to any get-together.
