Tomatoes Tomatoes Tomatoes
Tomatoesย is the spotlight for this edition ofย Summer Fest!ย
Confession:ย This was my dinner last night.ย A heaping batch of salsa cruda and ย fried tortilla chips.ย ย Shame?ย Not a bit.
Salsaย Cruda simply means raw sauce.ย ย All summerย we enjoy salsa cruda withย our meals as the recipe can be easily adapted to what you have on hand.ย ย When tomato season rolls aroundย count on your salsa crudaย flavorย to have an even bolder flavorย from one of summer’s best gifts.ย ย Our family favorites usually consist of roasted pineapple, mango or jicama.ย A splash of lime and aย pop fromย a finely diced serrano and your set.ย Easy addition to your morning eggs,ย layered on a taco or sprinkled over fish.ย I often add my salsa cruda to my lunch salads for thatย a touch of heat.ย Not into heat omit the serrano or remove the seeds.
Salsa cruda offers the flexibilityย toย add the flavors you enjoy with theย ease of prep for your next party or gameย night.ย ย I often make several variations forย a party andย set along sideย a taco bar.ย Cold beers, tacos and salsa crudaย make me one perfect party host.
Weโre teaming up with food and garden bloggers to host Summer Fest 2011, a season-long garden party. In coming weeks, weโll feature favorite garden-to-table recipes and tips to help you enjoy the bounty, whether youโre harvesting your own goodies or buying them fresh from the market. Today, weโre exploring tomatoes!!

I will often eat freshly fried chips and some sort of salsa cruda as a meal…particularly in the summertime. This looks like something I’d love to have in front of me right now. Super tasty!
