Horchata (pronounced or-CHAH-tah) is a Mexican drink made with rice. Flavored with cinnamon, sugar or nuts and seeds, this creamy beverage is popular served over ice in summer.
Horchata is a dreamy, creamy rice-based Mexican drink that is can be found in any taqueria here in South Texas. South Texans drink gallons and gallons of Horchata throughout the year, but in Summertime it is especially popular.

It’s soooo good! It adds a touch of creaminess to your iced coffee, with hints of cinnamon and vanilla. Served over ice it is my new afternoon pick me up.
For Sunday brunch I rim my glass with honey and dark brown sugar for an extra special touch. Also, feel free to add a splash of tequila or mezcal for a boozy spin.
If you would like to serve warm simply combine coffee and horchata in a slow cooker or saucepan simmer on low. My slow cooker horchata latte is also a fantastic addition to your brunch table.
How do you make iced coffee?
Making iced coffee at home is super easy.
Fill a tall glass with ice, pour in your brewed coffee and swirl in your flavoring of choice.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE ICED COFFEE
chilled brewed coffee or cold brew, chilled
horchata, chilled
ice
dark brown sugar and honey for rimming your glass, optional
HOW TO MAKE HORCHATA ICED COFFEE
If rimming glass: sprinkle dark brown sugar on plate, dip glass into honey and rim glass with sugar
Fill a glass with ice
Add coffee
Add horchata to taste
