Spicy Avocado Hummus
Hummus has to be one of my favorite snack foods during a busy week or lazy weekend. Creamy, light plus it’s a snap to make. With a few simple igredients you can whip up homemade hummus in no time. I enjoy adding avocado to my hummus to make avocado hummus, but today I want to add a bit of spice to this creamy delight.
When HEB asked me to help them celebrate their annual Tex Fest (it’s their 6th year y’all) I was more than happy to join in. I’m always happy to share locally made products. Texas is brimming with talent.
This spicy avocado hummus features HEB That’s Salsa Bout Texas a medium hot salsa that is made right here in Texas and is the perfect blend of fresh tomatoes, onions, garlic and cilantro plus Pequin and Morita chile peppers. It’s authentic, mildly spicy and about as Texan as y’all can get.
Begin this recipe with a chickpeas, a few avocados throw in a few garlic cloves along with a splash of olive oil into your food processor and process until smooth. Finally stir in your salsa and serve with tortillas chips (how cute are these Texas shaped chips, LOVE) or corn chips.
And don’t count out hummus as a dinner option use it to top a tostadas then top with grilled chicken or shrimp for an amazing dinner.
