Albóndigas de Camarón One of my childhood favorites Albóndigas are comfort in a bowl. One of the many dishes my mom is known for. No one could resist her Albóndigas, even to this day the smell drives me to a state of giddy joy. Growing up she would make over sized Albóndigas for us kids. One placed in the center of a bowl swimming in a broth so flavorful the table hummed with the echo of children slurping. Served with piping hot corn tortillas and a drizzle of salsa ~ pure happiness. Throughout the year I make Albóndigas from ground beef, turkey or pork. My girls request them so often I sometimes find myself ladling bowls in the height of summer. That’s how much we love them. In the Lenten season I turn to local shrimp to… Read More
Panini Party!!
Panini Party!! Yesterday on Facebook I hosted a Panini party featuring the IMUSA USA Panini maker in celebration of our recent partnership. The party was a blast!! My family arrived to help me celebrate and did we ever celebrate!! We feasted on Panini after Panini. Experimenting with flavors and textures. The kids loved the crunchy bread oozing with cheese. My little sister added thick slices of mushrooms with grilled onions for a beefed up meatless Panini. My personal favorite was a loaded bolillo of rajas of poblano, red, yellow and green bell peppers with a thick slice of Oaxaca cheese. I thought I’d share a few of the pics from… Read More

Joy the Baker's Cheddar Chive and Jalapeño Biscuits
Cheddar Chive and Jalapeño Biscuits Do you hear that? That’s me patting myself on the back. I have conquered biscuits. I know, I know my blog name does include bake. I began Sweet Life as a way to practice my baking skills, learn new techniques and practice..practice. The thing is I might have subconsciously slid biscuits to the back end of my baking practice. Have I made them before? Yes. Did they resemble hockey pucks and taste like saw dust? Yes. Yes. and Yes. I live in fear of my family requesting biscuits. So lame. This weekend as I browsed Joy’s… Read More

Joy the Baker's Mini Chamomile Cake with Honey Frosting
Mini Chamomile Cakes with Honey Frosting This was the quickest photo shoot that has ever taken place in my kitchen. I take full responsibility. I decided to bake these mini chamomile cakes in the morning hours, the exact hours that everyone began to rustle out of bed. My nieces floated into the kitchen and knew something was up. They never left. Enter my two girls, little sister and my mom. I grabbed my camera, but it was no use. Piping cups of tea, coffee and cold milk made their to the table all while grabbing my photo subject…. Read More
