Grapefruit Upside-Down Cake

  It’s cold here in Texas, really cold.. we are currently at 26 degrees.. I’m ecstatic!!  I plan to enjoy this cold weather with a warm slice of the seasonal upside down cake.  I had planned to share my second installment of Texas Talent, but us Texans are not prepared for these chilly temps.  My electricity has been off and on for the last day.  I am having the worst time uploading my pictures, so I am leaving you with a post I had planned for Sunday.  Take care and stay warm with a slice of this fine cake! Sweet Life Presents Texas Talent ~ Terry Stuart from Crest Fruit Inc ~ Mission, Texas ~ Grapefruit Buttermilk Sherbet (Giveaway!)

  Last week I had the pleasure to chat at length with Terry Stuart from Crest Inc located in Mission, Texas.  Our focus Grapefruits,  a genuine Texas treat known world wide for it’s ruby red interior and juicy flesh.  I was happily suprised when Terry informed me February is National Grapefruit Month.  I honestly had no idea, I only knew at this time every year us Texans celebrate grapefruit peak season.  Will you join me in celebrating a true Texas treasure?  Grapefruits are king here in the Rio Grande Valley and every King deserves a celebration, don’t you think?  Let’s begin by introducing Terry Stuart from Marketing at Crest Fruit Inc.

Citrus Honey Punch

Citrus Season is in full swing here in the Rio Grande Valley.  As you drive through the valley every fruit stall is brimming with bag after bag of citrus.  One of our favorite times of the year as we enjoy freshly squeezed juice every morning with our breakfast.  Here is a tangy citrus punch made also with local honey.  Enjoy! Sweet Life! Citrus Honey Punch by Sweet Life by Vianney Rodriguez 1/2  cup Honey 1/2 cup water 4 grapefruits 3 oranges 2 lemons Dissolve the honey in the water over medium heat. Allow to cool. I sometimes, no always, wear extra blush so when I blush you can’t see it.  Does it make sense?  No sense, that’s why it works. Mango Agave Granola

  Do you ever have one of those weeks,  I don’t know how to explain it,  just a weird week.   The week was a blur of lost items, confusion in dates and emotional roller coaster.   The family felt my unbalance.  They quickly swooped in, to make fun of me, yes they took any opportunity to crack a  joke.  I have to admit it really helped, laughing at yourself  somehow cleanses your attitude.   Thankfully today is Friday, I am so over this week.   Shall we cleanse together over a bowl of granola and share a laugh?  Funny thing is, I can really woof down granola.  I have admired this… Read More
